Episode 42 Now Playing! Fake Problems, Good Old War, Mansions
By Guest BloggerWednesday, May 6th, 2009
The big four-two is now available for your listening pleasure. It features a great interview with (and performance from) Fake Problems of Naples, FL. Chris Farren and Derek Perry stopped in to talk about a whole smorgasboard of stuff, ranging from artistic integrity in pop music to the incest of the music industry, plus everything in between. Chris also performed “Heart BPM” (from the band’s new full-length, It’s Great To Be Alive) and “Mr. Rock and Roll Role” (unreleased).
Philly’s Good Old War then came by to deliver one of the most memorable and compelling performances we’ve hosted to date. Do NOT miss this one. Good Old War are currently supporting Only Way to Be Alone.
And Mansions sat in to offer an intimate performance of two selections from his distinctive catalog. His most recent release is called New Best Friends.
Plus Justin Brannan stops by for another installment of his new segment, “A Person Familiar With The Matter.” This time, Justin works over the Dow Jones/Happiness Index phenomenon, Somali pirates, and Coney Island. Justin gets the editor’s Best Quote Award for this gem:
“Coney Island cannot exist solely as the backdrop for your urban blight photo shoots on Flickr. Coney Island cannot sustain itself on your nostalgia, or for the 14 hipsters who just moved here from Michigan, dressed like lobsters, protesting like we’re razing the Amazon Rain Forest. Coney Island cannot exist just so you and 3 of your friends can go to Ruby’s once a summer and pretend it’s 1955.”
All in all, a great episode.
